about

"L'onesto" translates to "The Honest Man" and the song found it's inspiration from an old Italian Folk Tale. The tale takes place during a time before the words "share" and "steal" had different meanings, and in society people would steal/share everything from/with one another. It was great, because everyone would have a chance to experience everything and nobody would lack whatever it is they might have needed. One day, L'onesto came into the society and decided that stealing was wrong. So he did not take from anyone, but people in the society continued to take from him, until he began to starve. When the people of the society realized L'onesto's condition they thought to themselves that what is going on in the society isn't right. L'onesto is the good guy why should he be the one who is starving? So these people created laws to protect L'onesto, which led to the creation of government, which led to social security, which led to the society that we live in today, where there are many starving people whom we as a society do not share with or protect.

lyrics

You steal this from me,
and I'll steal that from him.
But you've got to let him steal from you
'cause if you don't that's where you go wrong.
That's where you go wrong.

And I'll share this with you,
and he'll share that with me.
But you've got to share with him 'cause if you don't
well then, that's where you go wrong.
That's where you go wrong.

Just imagine
a world where no one ever steals a thing.
Well just imagine
a free-for-all community.
Well just imagine.

You'll hide this from him
and he'll hide that from me.
And I'll hide everything from everyone
'cause that's my only sense of free.

And you'll lock this from him,
and he'll lock that from me.
And when you needed it the most
my things are locked and I've the only key.

And I'd remember
that you're the one who started locking things.
Forced to surrender
you're begging on your knees.

"I'm an honest man,
just trying to get on by
I never knew my honest acts
would have effects on so many lives.

"Steal" and "share" I know
should mean the same thing.
Why should some starve and suffer
while another's, living like a king?"

And to forgive you
for all the harm that you have done.
Yes to forgive you
I don't know if I'm that strong.

So you steal this from me,
and I'll steal that from him.
But you've gotta let him steal from you
'cause if you don't I don't know if I'm that strong.
I don't know if I'm that strong.

And I'll share this with you,
and he'll share that with me.
But you've gotta share with him 'cause if you don't
well then, I don't know if I'm that strong.
I don't know if I'm that strong.

Just imagine
a world where no one ever steals a thing.
Well just imagine
a free-for-all community.

I don't know if I'm that strong.
